Wandering Australia Part 5

Today’s major outing was to travel to Sydney’s Olympic Park, where the 2000 Olympic Games were held so successfully, for the opening day of the annual Sydney Royal Easter Show. Think of it as a combination of Toronto’s Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and the Canadian National Exhibition. And it’s a very big deal for both Sydney and the agricultural industry in New South Wales. It’s been operating since 1823 and annually draws hundred of thousands of people. Bill and I had a great time wandering around the exhibits - livestock, food, crafts, baking, plus the midway and endless ways to spend money. We especially noticed the large number of school farm clubs that were competing. Our feet gave out around 4pm, followed by a quick train trip back to Sydney’s Central Station.

I hope you enjoy these photos of our day, plus one photo from yesterday at the end: Bill photographed me in front of 10 Tryon Street, Chatswood, where I lived in the early 1970s.
